Further information: Albesia is a fast-growing tropical softwood. It is one of the fastest growing trees on the planet – a seedling may exceed 50ft in 10 years. Because of this, albesia is sometimes referred to as a ‘weed tree’, as its rapid growth can shade out other plants. However, when carefully managed, albesia is extremely useful.
