Our family of three seated owls are hand made in Bali, using albesia wood. Painted with contrasting shades of brown, with carved feather highlights around the neck. The eyes are painted with in fine detail. Fairly traded by Present Company from a small family business in Bali. Ornamental use only – not a toy. Further information: Albesia is a fast-growing tropical softwood. It is one of the fastest growing trees on the planet – a seedling may exceed 50ft in 10 years. Because of this, albesia is sometimes referred to as a ‘weed tree’, as its rapid growth can shade out other plants. However, when carefully managed, albesia is extremely useful.
